Birthdays Happen

11/14/2011

This past Sunday was my birthday. It was not that eventful of a day, but it came and went just the same. I got to watch my two grandchildren run and play in the front yard. That was a highlight of the day. Nope, I did not go out to eat. I cooked the meal myself.
We had Beef Strogonoff, cubed steak, broccoli and cheese, green bean casserole, squash, and iced tea. It was good.
I actually like to cook. In the near future, I hope to publish my cookbook. It has my favorites in it as well as tried and true food items that would please just about anyone.
Well, got to go. Time is short right now. Oh, I fogot to say...nope, I did not have a birthday cake. I refused to cook my own and no one did it for me. LOL I guess I did not need the cake, anyway. Life goes on!

Writer's Retreat a GREAT Success

11/9/2011

We just had our First Annual Writer's Retreat at Bolton Camp. It was an amazing time with other Authors/Writers who love books. We had incredible meals and wonderful times to share and talk about writing.

Bolton Camp is a wonderful place to get away from the normal hustle and bustle of life and just "chill." You actually forget that there is life outside this amazing country retreat. We took a walk down the paved road to see the creek that runs across the property. That creeks flows from somewhere deep in the woods and actually provides drinking water to locals that may stop by and fill up a jug with water.

The Main House at the camp faces a beautiful lake that reflects the many colors of the trees that surround it. (If it were Summer, you would probably hear the yells of campers as they jump off the "deep" end of the dock, that juts out into the lake. I have been there during the Summer and it does happen.)

We ate more than a human should eat at a retreat. LOL It did not stop us from going back to the table at each meal-time. There is something really fun about sitting around a table, sharing good food, and talking with friends.

The next FALL Retreat is set for November 2-4, 2012 at Bolton Camp.
