What's New With Me

I have had a number of comments about the September newsletter. Everything has been very positive. I appreciate good positive feedback that helps me see things that would be good for me.

I am currently making some corrections to Jerilyn Ito's new book and hope to have it ready for publishing very soon. It is a beautiful book. The colors are wonderful. The story is precious. You are going to love it.

I am also finishing-up the final tweaks to a book that features Church plays for Children, Youth, and Adults. That book should be ready very soon. It will be the first drama book that SP has published.

I am currently working on my cookbook. It will feature some of the best and easiest recipes that I use all the time. I compiled a cookbook for my two daughters and have since been asked about making the book public domain.  It is coming soon. I hope to have it ready for Christmas.

Things I learned from the Decatur, Book Fair

9/12/2011

This was the Second visit for Sleepytown Press to the Decatur, Book Fair. Saturday was Hot! Hot! Hot! Sunday was cooler with a little "sprinkles" of rain.

1. The Book Fair had a different feel this year. The crowd was down some from last year, but I think that also had to do with the numerous activities going on in and around Atlanta. There were not as many people coming by the booths.

2. It seemed that people were more interested in eating than purchasing books. I really think it has a lot to do with the economy, too. People are more careful where they spend their money. I understand it fully.

3. As far as I could tell, authors were not selling as many books this year. Again, the economy has a lot to do with it. Sleepytown Press has some really good authors. They have written some really good books. I would really like to see more of them sell at events like this. I believe in our authors.

4. Next year, If Sleepytown Press goes to the Book Fair, I am going to do a BIG push for the Publishing. I walked around and visited more booths this year and picked up some good ideas.

Remember Danny and his family

Danny McCarty is one of our SP authors. He was unable to make the Decatur Book Fair because his mom had a very bad fall and hit her head.

We learned, after returning from the Book Fair, that Danny's mom had passed away. Please, keep Danny and his family in your prayers.

I know how this feels. My mom passed away on June 5th, 2011. If you have ever had a loved-one pass away, then you know how difficult this time can be for the family.

Drop in and meet Fran, Ellen, Wanda, Danny, Joe, Steven, and anyone else who comes by to visit.

Sign-up at the booth to be in the drawing for a special "gift basket" put together for the Book Fair.
