A NEW BOOK by Charlotte Hopkins: Everything you Wanted to Know about the Heroes in Blue

Charlotte has the following to say about her book:
The wall between society and those with the potential to cause harm are the officers in blue, which I affectionately refer to as, "Heroes in Blue." The title of my book is, “Everything You Wanted to Know about the Heroes in Blue.” The book is a tribute to the lives of men and women who protect our streets. This selfless sacrifice is done daily by "heroes" who never ask for or expect a "thank you" they just want to protect and serve the innocent. They want to do their part in keeping society safe for the rest of us. The media often showcases them in a negative and violent manner. I would like to know....Where is the media when these officers are looking in the tear-filled eyes of abused children or consoling a struggling couple about to break down emotionally? Where is the media when the officers have fallen and their lives succumb to injuries from people who just didn't want to go to jail? Where is the media when they are rescuing people picked up from flash flooding or those broke down on the highway or those being held hostage? This book pays tribute to those men and women and gives thanks to the fallen heroes who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
There is a growing fascination with the public wanting to know more about the police. What really goes on at the station? Where are they going when they are traveling at high speed down the highway? What drives them to “do what they do.” When COPS first premiered in 1989, America had it's first glimpse behind what really goes on in the lives of law enforcement. It certainly peaked everyone's curiosity and there has been a rise in young people wanting to know more about these men and women, such as, what drove them to pursue their career and what are some of the trials they endured along the way.
There are readers who want to know more about the personal side of law enforcement, particularly those who have fallen in the line of duty. Those who will be touched by the kindness of law enforcement that is rarely seen by the public and the risks that they take everyday so that we can carry on peacefully in our lives. Then there are the readers who are interested because they, want to pursue a career in law enforcement. The book gives a taste of what it would be like from the four corners of protective service, which are, police officers, security guards, bounty hunters and correction officers (jail guards).
The book has three sections. The first part of the book is short stories of men and women of law enforcement - police officers, correctional officers and security officers. Their stories tell the good and bad of law enforcement, what made them choose to protect others, what keeps them going everyday and what their advice is for the next generation of Law Enforcement workers.
The second part of my book is titled, "A Tribute to Law Enforcement." There are poems and dedications to law enforcement (some emotional and some humorous). I also talk about laws that police would like to see passed, such as, the "Move Over" law that requires drivers to veer towards the left when they see that a police officer is working on the side of the road. Police officers are killed every year because drivers slam into them on the highways when they are outside of their cars. There is also information about law enforcement memorials, museums and activities that police hold outside their jobs, such as, "Heroes on Patrol" and the "Police Unity Tour."
The last section is a brief history on law enforcement which includes such facts as, the first female officer, the first police officer killed in the line of duty and the first person arrested for drinking and driving....an interesting story itself.
Frank Serpico (the former New York cop) invites you to purchase and read the book , as soon as it is published.
Various Senators and organizations are already coming on-board and showing early support for the book.
