Reviews of Sleepytown on Amazon.com
Sleepytown, May 8, 2010 By Fran Orenstein "Sunwriter" (Tampa Bay, FL USA) This review is from: Sleepytown (Paperback) Sleepytown is a wonderful picture book for children to calm them before bedtime, naptime, or anytime. Beautifully illustrated, this simple story helps allay fears children might have about going to sleep, taking them on a little boy's journey to a delightful place called Sleepytown. My grandson, 2 1/2, loves having someone read the story to him while he looks at the charming pictures. He asks for it over and over again. Kudos to the author/illustrator, Randy Young for this charming book.
A book every child should have., July 13, By AngelLesa "AngelLesa" (Texas) - See all my reviews This review is from: Sleepytown (Paperback) I have not just gotten this book but also I have interviewed Randy Young. My children love this book. It really does help them when they get scared or have problems sleeping. Also my youngest reads it himself.
Great gift for children.
E nchanting bed time story for sleepy heads, June 26, By Mary Mignerey - See all my reviews This review is from: Sleepytown (Paperback) I just loved this book, as did my two year old granddaughter! The illustrations are superb, and the story is enchanting! I will be looking for more from this author!
This review is from: Sleepytown (Paperback) Sleepy Town was inspired by my grandson, Zander. We were having trouble getting him to go to sleep. No one could get him to stop crying and sleep. My youngest daughter (Kimberly) was holding him and she began to make up a song with the words, "It's time to go to SleepyTown, to SleepyTown, it's time to go to SleepyTown because we are sleepy." Zander quieted down and went to sleep. From then on, we had to sing that song to get him to go to sleep. He loved it.
One day, I said that it would be fun to write a story about Sleepy Town that could be read at bedtime. Sleepy Town was created.
At night, Zander will say, "I'm going to beat you to Sleepy Town."
Sometimes he will say, "Where are you going to be in Sleepy Town?" I will sometimes say that I will be in the castle, drinking sweet tea, or some other place. Sleepy Town has given Zander a reason to go to sleep and not be afraid.
In the book, no one gets left-out on the playground. I remember how it was as I wanted to get picked for a game and being disapointed, when no one wanted me on their team. In Sleepy Town, everyone is accepted.
There are no tears or frowns...That's how it is in Sleep Town.
I hope the book does for you and that special child what it has done for us and Zander.
